Doing things and making simple deals for seemingly simple things to maneuver them into being who he wants them to be. This has the nice side effect of really diving into side characters motivations and character development. Getting into the mind of another and figuring out what makes them tick. A lot of Alex's time in the beginning of the book is a lesson in interrogation. Supporting characters are well done, if a bit simple. I, personally, prefer the darker and deviant characters that Darren seems to love when compared to the characters that Arand writes.

He cares for those he loves and fuck everyone else. MC is a combination of the determined ruthless mind of Felix from Arand's amazing Super sales on Super Heroes combined with the incredibly strong and primal Vince in Darren's Wild Wastes. Darren's style comes out again here just as well as it did in the Wild Wastes series. This is prime time dark haremlit if youre into that. It's like the author doesn't understand that consent under duress isn't consent.Īnother great series semi set in the same "multiverse" as a majority of Arand and Darren's other series. then the Arthur does the grossest thing and has every woman start enjoying being his rape victim. the author tries to get around it basically being rape by saying, they agreed to it, but most of the women are in a situation of, "well your going to die, if you agree to be my sex slave I'll let you live." like that doesn't make it still rape. the character talks about breaking them, but really he just uses his authority to imprison women and then they basically give in on their own. the lazy: the author has the female characters give into being sex slaves extremely easily, like literal sex slaves, he even refers to them as such. the good: the MC manipulates people into making bad deals to stay alive the bad: most of these deals are with females end up feeling rapey. the MC makes "deals" with people in a world were these deals are inforced by gods.

OK, so a bit spoilery but mostly just for a repeating plot. If Alex wants to keep living, to keep his soul from being sent to the darkest corner of hell, he'll have to ask himself that question. The better question is, how much would you take from others? How much would you give of yourself to live on in the world is an easy question. From things as simple as a meal to their very lives. That they could never speak of what they'd done.ĭeals for anything, and everything. It's not even a similar period in time, but from something long past in history.Īnd part of the deal to live again, is to make pacts with others. Except the world he's being sent to isn't the same one he came from. He can return to the land of the living, though his soul would belong to another. Luckily for him, he's about to be given a chance. Dead, and apparently with a one-way ticket to a place that only the worst of the worst go.Īll for a simple choice he made about a product his company owned.
